Sagittarius New Moon

The Sagittarius new moon on December 12th has Jupiter the ruler of this transit finishing up its retrograde in Taurus. Jupiter has a separating opposition with Venus, the ruler of Taurus which was exact on December 9 and showed us where in our lives we may be compromising too much in order to get what we want, or we could have become too rigid regarding how we want things to look and haven’t left room for magic to happen. Either way the Sagittarius new moon is a time to take a step back and look at the big picture of our lives and begin to understand where we are and where we are going. Uranus is in Quincunx to this new moon so if we don’t take the time to understand these things we could make impulsive decisions that we might later regret.

Jupiter is also in a separating trine to Mercury which will start its retrograde hours after this new moon is exact, so Mercury is a key player in this new moon. It will not only form an exact trine to Jupiter again during its retrograde but will come direct the day after Jupiter comes direct, Jupiter on 12/31 and Mercury on 1/1. Having Mercury so prominent during this lunation is reminding us to make sure we have all of the facts before we move forward. These two opposite energies when used properly can help us make informed decisions. Mercury the student is gathering the information and Jupiter the teacher helps us understands what information is useful and what is just noise. It is important that we give ourselves time to digest this information before we form rigid opinions of how things are and where they are heading. Jupiter and Venus are in Taurus and Scorpio so we want to be careful that our beliefs and our values do not become fixed as Taurus and Scorpio are both fixed energies. This new moon is in Sagittarius which is a mutable sign meaning the information coming to us is not fixed but evolving.

Use this new moon energy to call in a clear understanding of where you are in your journey so next month when we have the new moon in Capricorn you can use that understanding to develop an actionable plan to move forward.
